A suitable Build Verification Test for Multi-Media
|
|
|
|

When the multimedia merge with USER and WINLOGON takes place this
|
|
new section will become effective.
|
|
|
|
Prereq: Ensure you have a sound capable machine with speakers/headphones
|
|
- MIPS or x86 with Soundblaster or clone
|
|
|
|
Ensure that WIN.INI [SOUNDS] section points SYSTEMWELCOME and
|
|
SYSTEMSTART to a sound of your choice.
|
|
|
|
Boot: When the Welcome (Press C-A-D) box appears the SYSTEMWELCOME sound
|
|
should be played.
|
|
|
|
When you logon successfully the SYSTEMSTART sound should be played.
|
|
If at the logon panel an invalid key is pressed, e.g. Ctrl+Q, the
|
|
SYSTEMHAND sound should play.
|
|
|
|

1. Bring up MPlayer.exe
|
|
Click on Devices
|
|
- should see listed Sound...
|
|
MIDI Sequencer...
|
|
CDAudio
|
|
|
|
Click on SOUND...
|
|
- File open dialog comes up
|
|
Go to \NT\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
|
|
Select any .WAV file e.g. laughs.wav
|
|
- Dialog box goes away
|
|
- MPlayer lefthand button becomes un-grayed
|
|
Click on left hand button
|
|
- Sound should play
|
|
|
|
Click on Devices
|
|
Click on MIDI...
|
|
- File open dialog comes up
|
|
Go to \NT\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
|
|
Select any .MID file e.g. canyon.mid
|
|
- Dialog box goes away
|
|
- MPlayer lefthand button becomes un-grayed
|
|
Click on left hand button
|
|
- Sound should play (but you may need a MIDI box plugged in externally)
|
|
- Slider should move along the track
|
|
|
|
Click on Devices
|
|
Click on CDAudio
|
|
Click on left hand (play) button
|
|
CD starts playing (plug headphones into CD to hear the sound).
|
|
|
|
2. Bring up Soundrec.exe
|
|
- (Known bug - says cannot register as OLE server).
|
|
- slider in scroll bar is flashing
|
|
Click on File
|
|
Click on Open
|
|
- File open dialog comes up
|
|
Go to \NT\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
|
|
Select any .WAV file e.g. laughs.wav
|
|
- Dialog box goes away
|
|
- Soundrec middle button becomes un-grayed
|
|
Click on left hand button
|
|
- Sound should play
|
|
Alt+F4
|
|
|
|
3. Bring up control panel
|
|
- Sound applet appears with a couple of music notes in icon
|
|
Click on sound icon
|
|
- Message appears "Assigns sounds to system events"
|
|
Double-click on sound icon
|
|
- Sounds applet comes up
|
|
- Two list boxes appear
|
|
Pick a sound from right hand box
|
|
- Click on Test button
|
|
- Sound should play
|
|
Alt+F4
|
|
