  8. This document provides late breaking or other information
  9. that is relevant to the PCHealth bug reporting page, and
  10. is current as of the date above. After that date, you may
  11. find more current information and resources on the
  12. Windows Beta Web site at:

  20. CONTENTS
  21. 1. INSTALLING MICROSOFT BUG REPORTING PAGE UPDATE
  22. 1.1 Close the Help and Support application
  23. 1.2 Download and run installation program, brupdate.exe,
  24. from above web site for build 4.90.00.2404 by clicking
  25. on the <Download> button
  26. 1.3 Click <Yes> to accept any VeriSign certificates, then
  27. click <OK> when installation is complete
  28. 2. HOW TO FILE A BUG REPORT
  29. 2.1 Click on Start->Programs->Help and Support
  30. 2.2 Click on "Report a Millennium bug" at the bottom of
  31. the page, or click on "Get support" at the top right
  32. of the page and then click on "Microsoft Corporation"
  33. on the "Get help from Vendors" page
  34. 2.3 Fill out all fields on bug report form
  35. 2.4 Add any additional files necessary for the bug report
  36. 2.5 Check the "Save copy to disk" box if you want to save
  37. a copy of your bug report to disk
  38. 2.6 Beta users who wish to do batch uploads can uncheck
  39. the "Submit to Microsoft now" checkbox
  40. 2.7 Click on <Done> button or select Alt+D
  41. Data collection will typically take one to two minutes.
  42. Creating a CAB file takes a few seconds to many seconds
  43. depending on how many files you have attached and their
  44. overall size. Transmitting the bug file to Microsoft
  45. takes anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes
  46. depending on the size of the CAB file and your Internet
  47. connection speed.
  48. 3. HOW TO VIEW SUBMITTED REPORTS
  49. 3.1 Click on Start->Programs->Help and Support
  50. 3.2 Click on "Get support" in top right corner
  51. 3.3 Click on "Check Status..." in the bottom left
  52. 3.4 Scroll up and down as necessary
  53. 3.5 Click on title to see bug report details
  54. You must have submitted bug reports successfully before
  55. you will see anything on the "Check Status..." screen.
  56. 4. FIX HIGHLIGHTS FOR THIS WEB RELEASE (version 4.90.00.2404)
  57. 4.1 Bug tracking improvements
  58. * "Check Status" fixed for build 2399 and later
  59. 4.2 User Interface improvements

  65. * Data collection errors are now skipped. The errors
  66. are now detected internally and recorded in the

  71. to assist Microsoft with tracking down causes for bugs:

  113. 6. KNOWN ISSUES
  114. 6.1 This update is not yet localized into the five Beta1
  115. languages (German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and
  116. Taiwan)
  117. 6.2 No keyboard access to all controls on the page
  118. * Text control size buttons
  119. * List of files collected
  120. 6.3 Privacy links do not work in build 2394 & 2399 [Fixed
  121. in 2403]
  122. 6.4 Some script errors may still be present
  123. * Please continue reporting these problems
  124. 6.5 Batch upload script is not user friendly and does not
  125. integrate with incident history
  126. 6.6 Incident view page is missing some style information
  127. and does not display like the main Bug Reporting page
  128. 6.7 Title field auto-truncates to 255 characters without
  129. warning
  130. 6.8 All text fields allow you to type or paste data larger
  131. than the maximum allowed size limit (e.g. 2000
  132. characters) and only warn of truncation after
  133. truncation has occurred
  134. 6.9 No scroll bars on text fields in incident view page
  135. 6.10 Printing all text on bug reporting pages when text
  136. extends beyond vertical size of text field is
  137. difficult
  138. 6.11 You must still be connected to the Internet prior to
  139. submitting a bug, but not prior to launching the
  140. Help Center
  141. 6.12 There is still a 10MB limit on compressed size of
  142. uploaded CAB file
  143. 6.13 Submission time stamp is not returned on thank you page
  144. 6.14 No process defined for migrating bug tracking data from
  145. one build to the next
  146. 6.15 Need to auto-generate saved CAB filename as title plus
  147. .CAB extension
  148. 6.16 When path to added files exceeds approximately 60
  149. characters, rightmost portion of path and filename
  150. are not viewable in add files list
  151. 6.17 Prevent recording of incident when there is not enough
  152. space on disk to save CAB file
  153. 6.18 Identical files can be added to the add file list
  154. 6.19 <Submit> button name is preferred over <Done>
  155. 6.20 There is currently no way to "save" your page settings
  156. after exiting the bug reporting page (Beta ID, save to
  157. disk, etc)
  158. 6.21 Some users are still getting "Active 0%", which
  159. indicates they have a job stuck in their upload queue
  160. If you are seeing the "Active 0%" problem, post to the
  161. help_support_tool newsgroup for assistance.
  162. 7. UNSCHEDULED/UNPLANNED FEATURES AND REQUESTS
  163. We have received requests for other features. We will
  164. consider such requests but make no guarantee we will
  165. implement them.
  166. 7.1 Ability to resolve or close incidents
  167. 7.2 Ability to check on status of submitted incidents
  168. 7.3 Ability to append updated data to a bug
  169. 7.4 Ability to migrate incidents to new Millennium builds
  170. for clean installs or uninstall/reinstall
  171. 7.5 Ability to go to website to view all Millennium bugs
  172. or to query on bug titles or bug descriptions
  173. 7.6 Ability to see bug statistics of other users on website
  174. 7.7 Ability to view "Top 100" bugs on website
