  17. <P>Active Directory Migration Tool can be used to migrate the users, groups, and computers from multiple Windows&nbsp;2000 domains into one or more Windows&nbsp;2000 domains. The process of migrating users, groups, and computers is referred to as <A ID="wPopup" HREF="HELP=ADMTGlos.hlp TOPIC=DomainMigration">domain migration</A>.</P>
  18. <p>As shown in the illustration, moving users, groups, and computers from the <A ID="wPopup" HREF="HELP=ADMTGlos.hlp TOPIC=SourceDomain">source domain</A> to the <A ID="wPopup" HREF="HELP=ADMTGlos.hlp TOPIC=TargetDomain"> target domain</A> is an intraforest move because both domains are in the same Windows&nbsp;2000 forest.</P>

  25. <p>Migrating multiple Windows&nbsp;2000 domains into a single Windows&nbsp;2000 domain allows administrators to consolidate the number of domains, simplify the user and group administration, and simplify Group Policy administration.</P>

  32. <P>As shown in the illustration, the steps to perform an <A ID="wPopup" HREF="HELP=ADMTGlos.hlp TOPIC=IntraforestMigration">intraforest migration</A> include migrating the service accounts, local groups, and computers in the <A ID="wPopup" HREF="HELP=ADMTGlos.hlp TOPIC=ResourceDomain">resource domains</A> and then migrating the global groups, users, and roaming profiles in the <A ID="wPopup" HREF="HELP=ADMTGlos.hlp TOPIC=AccountDomain">account domains</A>. When the migration is complete, the <A ID="wPopup" HREF="HELP=ADMTGlos.hlp TOPIC=SourceDomain">source domains</A> can be decommissioned, and the computers can be moved into the <A ID="wPopup" HREF="HELP=ADMTGlos.hlp TOPIC=TargetDomain">target domain</A>.</P>
