  161. SYNTAX
  162. The following conventions are used to indicate command syntax:
  163. - Capital letters represent words that must be typed as shown. Lower-
  164. case letters represent names of items that may vary, such as filenames.
  165. - The [ and ] characters surround optional items that can be supplied
  166. with the command.
  167. - The { and } characters surround lists of items. You must supply one
  168. of the items with the command.
  169. - The | character separates items in a list. Only one of the items can
  170. be supplied with the command.
  171. For example, in the following syntax, you must type NETDOM and
  172. either SWITCH1 or SWITCH2. Supplying a name is optional.
  173. NETDOM [name] {SWITCH1 | SWITCH2}
  174. - The [...] characters mean you can repeat the previous item.
  175. Separate items with spaces.
  176. - The [,...] characters mean you can repeat the previous item, but
  177. you must separate items with commas or semicolons, not spaces.
  178. - When typed at the command prompt, names of two words or more must
  179. be enclosed in quotation marks. For example,
  180. NETDOM ADD "/OU:OU=MY OU,DC=Domain,DC=COM"

  190. MessageId=8008 SymbolicName=MSG_NETDOM5_HELP_ADD
  191. Language=English
  192. NETDOM ADD machine /Domain:domain [/UserD:user] [/PasswordD:[password | *]]
  193. [/Server:server] [/OU:ou path] [/DC]
  194. NETDOM ADD Adds a workstation or server account to the domain.
  195. machine is the name of the computer to be added
  196. /Domain Specifies the domain in which to create the machine account
  197. /UserD User account used to make the connection with the domain
  198. specified by the /Domain argument
  199. /PasswordD Password of the user account specified with /UserD. A * means
  200. to prompt for the password
  201. /Server Name of a specific domain controller that should be used to
  202. perform the Add. This option cannot be used with the /OU
  203. option.
  204. /OU Organizational unit under which to create the machine account.
  205. This must be a fully qualified RFC 1779 DN for the OU. When
  206. using this argument, you must be running directly on a domain
  207. controller for the specified domain.
  208. If this argument is not included, the account will be created
  209. under the default organization unit for machine objects for
  210. that domain.
  211. /DC Specifies that a domain controller's machine account is to be
  212. created. This option cannot be used with the /OU option.

  220. NETDOM JOIN Joins a workstation or member server to the domain.
  221. machine is the name of the workstation or member server to be joined
  222. /Domain Specifies the domain which the machine should join. You
  223. can specify a particular domain controller by entering
  224. /Domain:domain\dc. If you specify a domain controller, you
  225. must also include the user's domain. For
  226. example: /UserD:domain\user
  227. /UserD User account used to make the connection with the domain
  228. specified by the /Domain argument
  229. /PasswordD Password of the user account specified by /UserD. A * means
  230. to prompt for the password
  231. /UserO User account used to make the connection with the machine to
  232. be joined
  233. /PasswordO Password of the user account specified by /UserO. A * means
  234. to prompt for the password
  235. /OU Organizational unit under which to create the machine account.
  236. This must be a fully qualified RFC 1779 DN for the OU.
  237. If not specified, the account will be created under the default
  238. organization unit for machine objects for that domain.
  239. /REBoot Specifies that the machine should be shutdown and automatically
  240. rebooted after the Join has completed. The number of seconds
  241. before automatic shutdown can also be provided. Default is
  242. 30 seconds
  243. Windows Professional machines with the ForceGuest setting enabled (which is the
  244. default for machines not joined to a domain during setup) cannot be remotely
  245. administered. Thus the join operation must be run directly on the machine
  246. when the ForceGuest setting is enabled.
  247. When joining a machine running Windows NT version 4 or before to the domain
  248. the operation is not transacted. Thus, a failure during the operation could
  249. leave the machine in an undetermined state with respect to the domain it is
  250. joined to.

  438. /Add Specifies that a trust be created.
  439. /REMove Specifies that a trust be removed.
  440. /Twoway Specifies that a trust relationship should be
  441. bidirectional
  442. /OneSide Indicates that the trust be created for or removed from
  443. only one of the domains in the trust.
  444. Use the keyword "trusted" to create or remove the trust
  445. from the trusted domain (the domain named with the /D
  446. parameter). Use the keyword "trusting" to create or
  447. remove the trust from the trusting domain. This command is
  448. valid only with the /Add and /REMove options and requires
  449. the /PasswordT command when used with the /Add option.
  450. /REAlm Indicates that the trust is to be created to a non-Windows
  451. Kerberos realm. Valid only with the /Add option. The
  452. /PasswordT option is required.
  453. /TRANSitive Valid only for a non-Windows Kerberos realm. Specifying
  454. "yes" sets it to a transitive trust. Specifying "no" sets
  455. it to a non-transitive trust. If neither is specified,
  456. then the current transitivity state will be displayed.
  457. /Kerberos Specifies that the Kerberos authentication protocol should
  458. be verified between a domain or workstation and a target
  459. domain; You must supply user accounts and passwords for
  460. both the object and target domain.
  461. /Force Valid with the /REMove option. Forces the removal of the
  462. trust (and cross-ref) objects on one domain even if the
  463. other domain is not found or does not contain matching
  464. trust objects. You must use the full DNS name to specify
  465. the domain.
  466. CAUTION: this option will completely remove a child domain.
  467. /Quarantine Valid only on an existing direct, outbound trust. Set or
  468. clear the domain quarantine attribute. Default is "no".
  469. When "yes" is specified, then only SIDs from the directly
  470. trusted domain will be accepted for authorization data
  471. returned during authentication. SIDS from any other
  472. domains will be removed. Specifying /Quarantine without
  473. yes or no will display the current state.
  474. /NameSuffixes Valid only for a forest trust or a Forest Transitive
  475. Non-Windows Realm Trust . Lists the routed name suffixes
  476. for trust_name on the domain named by trusting_domain_name.
  477. The /UserO and /PasswordO values can be used for
  478. authentication. The /Domain parameter is not needed.
  479. /ToggleSuffix Use with /NameSuffixes to change the status of a name
  480. suffix. The number of the name entry, as listed by a
  481. preceding call to /NameSuffixes, must be provided to
  482. indicate which name will have its status changed. Names
  483. that are in conflict cannot have their status changed
  484. until the name in the conflicting trust is disabled. Always
  485. precede this command with a /NameSuffixes command because
  486. LSA will not always return the names in the same order.
  487. /EnableSIDHistory Valid only for an outbound, forest trust. Specifying "yes"
  488. allows users migrated to the trusted forest from any other
  489. forest, to use SID history to access resources in this
  490. forest. This should be done only if the trusted forest
  491. administrators can be trusted enough to specify SIDs of
  492. this forest in the SID history attribute of their users
  493. appropriately. Specifying "no" would disable the ability of
  494. the migrated users in the trusted forest to use SID history
  495. to access resources in this forest. Specifying
  496. /EnableSIDHistory without yes or no will display the
  497. current state.
  498. /ForestTRANsitive Valid only for Non-Windows Realm Trusts and can only be
  499. performed on the root domain for a forest.
  500. Specifying "yes" marks this trust as Forest Transitive.
  501. Specifying "no" marks this trust as Not Forest Transitive.
  502. Specifying /ForestTRANsitive without yes or no will
  503. display the current state of this trust attribute.
  504. /SelectiveAUTH Valid only on outbound Forest and External trusts.
  505. Specifying "yes" enables selective authentication across
  506. this trust.
  507. Specifying "no" disables selective authentication across
  508. this trust.
  509. Specifying /SelectiveAUTH without yes or no will display
  510. the current state of this trust attribute.
  511. /AddTLN Valid only for a Forest Transitive Non-Windows Realm Trust
  512. and can only be performed on the root domain for a forest.
  513. Adds the specified Top Level Name (DNS Name Suffix) to the
  514. Forest Trust Info for the specified trust.
  515. Also see the /NameSuffixes operation to list name suffixes.
  516. /AddTLNEX Valid only for a Forest Transitive Non-Windows Realm Trust
  517. and can only be performed on the root domain for a forest.
  518. Adds the specified Top Level Name Exclusion (DNS Name
  519. Suffix)to the Forest Trust Info for the specified trust.
  520. Also see the /NameSuffixes operation to list name suffixes.
  521. /RemoveTLN Valid only for a Forest Transitive Non-Windows Realm Trust
  522. and can only be performed on the root domain for a forest.
  523. Removes the specified Top Level Name (DNS Name Suffix) from
  524. the Forest Trust Info from the specified trust.
  525. Also see the /NameSuffixes operation to list name suffixes.
  526. /RemoveTLNEX Valid only for a Forest Transitive Non-Windows Realm Trust

1070. NETDOM RENAMECOMPUTER renames a computer that is joined to a domain. The
1071. computer object in the domain is also renamed. Certain services, such as the
1072. Certificate Authority, rely on a fixed machine name. If any services of this
1073. type are running on the target computer, then a computer name change would
1074. have an adverse impact. This command should not be used to rename a domain
  1075. controller.
1076. machine is the name of the workstation or member server to be renamed
1077. /NewName Specifies the new name for the computer. Both the DNS host
1078. label and the NetBIOS name are changed to new-name. If
1079. new-name is longer than 15 characters, the NetBIOS name is
1080. derived from the first 15 characters
1081. /UserD User account used to make the connection with the domain
1082. to which the computer is joined. This is a required parameter.
1083. The domain can be specified as "/ud:domain\user". If domain is
1084. omitted, then the computer's domain is assumed.
1085. /PasswordD Password of the user account specified by /UserD. A * means
1086. to prompt for the password
1087. /UserO User account used to make the connection with the machine to

1094. /Force As noted above, this command can adversely affect some services
1095. running on the computer. The user will be prompted for
1096. confirmation unless the /FORCE switch is specified.
1097. /REBoot Specifies that the machine should be shutdown and automatically
1098. rebooted after the Rename has completed. The number of seconds
1099. before automatic shutdown can also be provided. Default is
  1100. 30 seconds

1740. NETDOM TRUST /ResetOneSide writes a new trust password on the
1741. target_domain_name for the trust with the trust_partner_domain_name. This
1742. command can be used to stop authentication between the target domain and the
