  16. <P>Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration (UDDI) is an industry
  17. specification for the description and discovery of Web services. The UDDI
  18. specification builds on the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Extensible
  19. Markup Language (XML), and HTTP/S protocol standards developed by the World
  20. Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). UDDI
  21. Services is an optional component of the
  22. <NOLOC>Windows&nbsp;.NET Server</NOLOC>
  23. family that provides UDDI capabilities within an enterprise.
  24. </P>
  25. <p>UDDI Services is not installed by default during setup of a
  26. <NOLOC>Windows&nbsp;.NET</NOLOC>
  27. server operating system.</p>
  28. <h2>UDDI Services requirements checklist</h2>
  29. Before you install and deploy UDDI Services, make sure your system meets the
  30. following hardware and software requirements.

  32. <H3>Hardware requirements</H3>
  33. <P>In addition to the
  34. <NOLOC>Windows&nbsp;.NET Server</NOLOC>
  35. family minimum requirements, UDDI Services requires:</P>

  38. 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM minimum
  39. <li>
  40. 80 MB free disk space (plus additional storage for UDDI Services data)

  44. <P>You must use one of the following Microsoft operating systems to host UDDI
  45. Services:</P>

  60. <P>When you first install UDDI Services, all components are selected by default.
  61. Deselecting components can decrease or disable UDDI Services functionality. If
  62. you are unfamiliar with UDDI Services components or deployment options,
  63. complete the default installation and then view Deploying and Installing UDDI
  64. Services in the snap-in online Help for more information.

  76. instructions to install, remove, or add components to UDDI Services.
