The SMB Redir component implements the client portion of the file-and-print sharing functionality exposed by Windows through Microsoft Networking. The implementation is based on the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol. It allows the client machine to access files on another machine that implements the server portion of the file-and-print sharing functionality, and allows access to a shared printer.
