  1. A suitable Build Verification Test for Multi-Media

  3. When the multimedia merge with USER and WINLOGON takes place this
  4. new section will become effective.
  5. Prereq: Ensure you have a sound capable machine with speakers/headphones
  6. - MIPS or x86 with Soundblaster or clone
  7. Ensure that WIN.INI [SOUNDS] section points SYSTEMWELCOME and
  8. SYSTEMSTART to a sound of your choice.
  9. Boot: When the Welcome (Press C-A-D) box appears the SYSTEMWELCOME sound
  10. should be played.
  11. When you logon successfully the SYSTEMSTART sound should be played.
  12. If at the logon panel an invalid key is pressed, e.g. Ctrl+Q, the
  13. SYSTEMHAND sound should play.

  15. 1. Bring up MPlayer.exe
  16. Click on Devices
  17. - should see listed Sound...
  18. MIDI Sequencer...
  19. CDAudio
  20. Click on SOUND...
  21. - File open dialog comes up
  22. Go to \NT\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  23. Select any .WAV file e.g. laughs.wav
  24. - Dialog box goes away
  25. - MPlayer lefthand button becomes un-grayed
  26. Click on left hand button
  27. - Sound should play
  28. Click on Devices
  29. Click on MIDI...
  30. - File open dialog comes up
  31. Go to \NT\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  32. Select any .MID file e.g. canyon.mid
  33. - Dialog box goes away
  34. - MPlayer lefthand button becomes un-grayed
  35. Click on left hand button
  36. - Sound should play (but you may need a MIDI box plugged in externally)
  37. - Slider should move along the track
  38. Click on Devices
  39. Click on CDAudio
  40. Click on left hand (play) button
  41. CD starts playing (plug headphones into CD to hear the sound).

  43. - (Known bug - says cannot register as OLE server).
  44. - slider in scroll bar is flashing
  45. Click on File
  46. Click on Open
  47. - File open dialog comes up
  48. Go to \NT\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  49. Select any .WAV file e.g. laughs.wav
  50. - Dialog box goes away
  51. - Soundrec middle button becomes un-grayed
  52. Click on left hand button
  53. - Sound should play
  54. Alt+F4
  55. 3. Bring up control panel
  56. - Sound applet appears with a couple of music notes in icon
  57. Click on sound icon
  58. - Message appears "Assigns sounds to system events"
  59. Double-click on sound icon
  60. - Sounds applet comes up
  61. - Two list boxes appear
  62. Pick a sound from right hand box
  63. - Click on Test button
  64. - Sound should play
  65. Alt+F4
