  14. What Is Personal Fax for Windows?
  15. ----------------------------------------------------------
  16. Personal Fax for Windows is a program you use to send and
  17. receive faxes from a computer running Windows NT Workstation.
  18. Personal Fax for Windows converts all outgoing and incoming
  19. faxes to .TIF-formatted files, which you can print or view
  20. and store online.
  21. Think of your fax modem or other fax device as a printer.
  22. You send faxes in the same way you print ordinary documents.
  23. Note: Personal Fax for Windows supports one fax device at
  24. a time. Other networked users cannot send or receive faxes
  25. through your computer.
  26. ----------------------------------------------------------
  27. Sending Faxes
  28. ----------------------------------------------------------
  29. You can send a fax in any of three ways:
  30. x You can fax an open document directly from its
  31. application simply by selecting your fax printer as
  32. your target printer. On the File menu of the application,
  33. click Print (or Send), and the Fax Send Utility opens
  34. to guide you through each step. Its easy.
  35. x You can use the Fax Send Utility (Start/Programs/Fax) to
  36. create your fax on-the-fly. Use this method only when you do
  37. not need to include file attachments.
  38. x You can send a fax from Exchange using special fax
  39. addresses you define in your personal address book. When you
  40. select a recipient whose address is a fax address, the e-mail
  41. that you type becomes your fax. Using Exchange, you can
  42. simultaneously send a message to both fax and e-mail
  43. recipients. You can also include file attachments within the
  44. messages. A copy of each fax you send is stored in the Sent
  45. folder, just as e-mail messages are.
  46. Regardless of the method you use to send your fax, youll
  47. automatically be notified by e-mail whether or not your fax
  48. transmission was successful.
  49. You can also archive copies of all outgoing faxes in a designated
  50. folder on your hard disk.
  51. Personal Fax for Windows provides several standard cover pages and
  52. a handy cover-page editor you can use to create or modify your own.
  53. ----------------------------------------------------------
  54. Receiving Faxes
  55. ----------------------------------------------------------
  56. To view a received fax online, use the Fax Document Viewer
  57. (Start/Programs/Fax). You can combine any of the following methods
  58. for dealing with the faxes you receive.
  59. x You can automatically route all incoming faxes to a folder on
  60. your computer or on another networked computer.
  61. x You can automatically print each fax upon arrival.
  62. x You can automatically receive faxes as mail messages in your
  63. Exchange Inbox.
  64. ----------------------------------------------------------
  65. Setting Up Your Modem and Configuring Your Workstation Fax

  82. such as during off-peak hours when usage and long-distance
  83. phone rates are lower.
  84. x The cover page you want to use.
