Active Directory Migration Tool can be used to migrate the users, groups, and computers from multiple Windows 2000 domains into one or more Windows 2000 domains. The process of migrating users, groups, and computers is referred to as domain migration.

|

As shown in the illustration, moving users, groups, and computers from the source domain to the target domain is an intraforest move because both domains are in the same Windows 2000 forest.

As shown in the illustration, the steps to perform an intraforest migration include migrating the service accounts, local groups, and computers in the resource domains and then migrating the global groups, users, and roaming profiles in the account domains. When the migration is complete, the source domains can be decommissioned, and the computers can be moved into the target domain.
